I am incredibly honored to have had the chance to visit Attu. After the LORAN Station is mothballed in a month or so there will be no more runway maintenance, and no permanent inhabitants on the island. The morning I flew home the island was covered by a low fog. In the following shots you can see the LORAN tower poking up through the fog bank, a view that won't be seen in a month or so when the tower is dropped to the ground with explosive charges.
